This Mayfield team is very good, especially offensively. I think their biggest downfall is that they know they are good.

Mayfield is the real deal. Caldwell played hard but didn’t have the horses.

Coming into the season, from what I was hearing, the Memphis team was an unknown of course and then besides them everyone thought that Murray and Madisonville would be the two teams on the schedule to look out for as each were expecting big seasons for their programs. Obviously McCracken snuck in there. But the way things had been playing out i started to feel as if Caldwell was better than Murray but now I don't really know what to think. Mayfield Coach Joe Morris I know has felt that Murray was going to be our strongest district foe this year from the jump so I'm guessing he's right. I think Murray will definitely score more points on Mayfield but Murray doesn't like to play much defense. I'm thinking something like 56-28 for the Murray game. The Murray-Caldwell game is very intriguing and well tell a lot about both teams obviously.

Nope, not at all.

With only six seniors this season, this was going to be sort of a bridge year for Caldwell County. Some people were thinking 5-5 over the summer. But if Caldwell can get Murray, 8-2 is likely. Even with a loss to Murray, 7-3 is still a pretty good showing (if the Tigers can beat Fort Campbell and Trigg County, and I think they will).

Some help is on the way for Caldwell though. The eighth grade team went 10-1 and the seventh grade team was 8-1. That doesn't necessarily always translate to wins on the varsity level, but there are some kids with a lot of potential on those teams.And Caldwell returns a ton of starters next year.
