Newport is calmly and quietly having a great season. 5-0....that's the first time twenty years they've started off that well. The last time was 1999 under coach Roy Lucas, Sr.

 

Those young men all deserve a big pat on the back, and Coach Wynn really deserves some recognition for what he's done to turn the program around.

Newport's true test will come this coming Friday night when they play for the "Bell" vs their cross town rival NCC. That piece of hardware has resided on the Carothers Road Hill since 1999.

You’re right, I knew several people who played on that team back then. Coach Wynn has things going in the right direction.
