Belfry travels to Pulaski County to battle the Warriors of Southwestern in the Don Franklin Bowl. Southwestern has had a lot of success in recent years. Belfry has had a little success of their own as well. This game should be a lot of fun. Who wins?

This one could be interesting for a while if Belfry's banged up. If not, I think they roll by a few scores. Either way, this is a HUGE opportunity for Jason Foley to grab a signature win in his first game at Southwestern. Scalping the Pirates would definitely command the attention of the rest of 5A.

Belfry has five guys that I think for sure will be playing on Saturday's at some level:

QB/S Brett Coleman

DE Grayson Cook

HB/S Ben Bntley

OL Ethan Wolford

HB/CB Isaac Dixon

At the end of last Friday's scrimmage only Dixon was able to be on the field, and even he got banged up.

The outlook is Cook should play close to 100% and Bentley and Dixon should be able to go, just not at 100%. Wolford will be a game time decision and Coleman won't play.

The mix of injuries, health, and general youth has caused big problems for Belfry in the pre-season as they have struggled to get their timing down and had a ton of blown coverages in their secondary. If that continues this week Southwestern will win, if Belfry can show some semblance of stability and can protect the football think they have enough firepower to get it done.

Belfry 3

Southwestern 0

Long opening drive by Belfry that dies in the redzone, Cook makes the short FG.

Southwestern has a solid defensive team. Belfry's backs running hard but not getting the surge they are accustomed to.

Belfry getting nothing to the weak side, after a fumble recover and a few yards the drive stalls with a missed FG

Southwestern gains a first down but then the drive stalls.

Isaac Dixon then puts a play of the week highlight up on the punt return by truckign a Warrior for the long TD.

Fake punt after Southwestern goes 3 and out deep in their own end, but Belfry stops them short.

Belfry takes over around the 30 of the Warriors.

Bold strategy Cotton.
