This brings up an interesting point. I know that in the past LC has gotten some good players back in the past from across the river. Is it possible that the tides have turned and Tolsia is now competitive because of it. Im not trying to implicate anything just bringing up an interesting point.

LC did get some really good players from across the river in the past and it did help the program. But do I need to remined you that you all got a very good player from LC this year that IMO was a very large part of your all's run that you had this year . IMO he was one of the best you all had this year and I was very happy for him and you all for doing a great job during the run I just wish like you all do that you could have one more game and have the chance to bring home the trophy.

The more I thought about what you bring up the more there is a tad of validity. Fred was always back and fourth between Louisa and Ft Gay. Nick I think came early in high school. Those are two of the better players to ever play at LC so they definatly hurt Tolsia not being over there even though they were back and fourth. That's really the only two kids that have ever made a huge impact that could be in question and Fred played most of his younger days in Louisa so that's not much of an argument. It's been almost 10 years since Nick played so Tolsia has had plenty of time before now to regroup. That school isn't that old really. It was always more of a basketball school as I think they have won the state in basketball or at least been.

Anyways we've gotten way off of track with this thread. Back to the Dawgs!

Fred Dean grew up playing ball in Louisa along with guys like Jackie Ratcliff who was a great player that played at Tolsia. Fred's sister was on my baseball team and could flat play! Emory Thompson played 1 year I think from over there and Nick Meadows I believe was from there. That is 3 players in history that have made any kind of impact and some of them played ball in their younger days in Louisa.

MUTE POINT! 3 kids in history dosen't make or break a program! You will be hard pressed to find many teams around Eastern KY that haven't had a couple of kids move into their school at some point in time to make a difference for their team. Central, Paintsville, LC, Belfry, Pikeville, Pburg all of them at some point in time have had a kid move in and help them.

Congrats to Central on making the final 4. Lawrence Co did it 3 times in a 7 year span back when they won 100+ games in the 90's. During that time Central never once beat LC. Not bringing anything up just reminding people how dominant LC was during that span and the longevity of the run they had against you. I hope you all can continue that consistancy. It is a great feeling for the small towns and personally I love it that guys like Stuart (who I played with) Coach Burchett and Coach Reeves who I coached with deserve every bit of success that comes their way! 3 GREAT guys!

LC has been hurt from injuries and transfers. Kick them now because they won't be down forever! There are a lot of hungry kids in Louisa, Blaine and Fallsburg. The kids are working hard and so are the coaches. It's just a matter of time!

What about Hoss he is from Fort Gay. Nick Meadows is from Fort Gay. Emory Thompson is from Fort Gay. Fred Dean never went back and forth he played baseball in Louisa because he had to just like everybody else did. He went to Tolsia until he was a junior. Those players were Recruited and I know that for a fact they wanted a few other players but they wouldnt come across the river. Mary was a good baseball player just like you said.

Whatever dude, if you want to start a Tolsia thread then have at it. You need to get the facts stratight before you start throwing around the R word too! I've been around most of these guys and their families and I've never heard the first thing about recruitment. The fact is that Tolsia was AWFUL and those kids didn't want to be there. I didn't know Hoss was from there. I always thought he was a Louisa boy. That is definatly some talented kids. Bottom line is Tolsia has built up there program and the people I know in Louisa is happy for them. I hope they win it all! Good luck!

Wow. Take a deep breath and cool down. Im not trying to imply that LC is the only program that has ever gotten players outside of there boundaries and trying to make JC superior to LC. That was not my point at all. The fact is JC has a long, and I mean long way to go before they EVER reach the tradition of Lawrence Co. All I was saying is that I wonder if some of the LC kids are transfering to Tolsia due to LC's recent stuggles and the recent rise of Tolsia football. Lets face it, kids will flucate from school to school based on the programs performance. I know quite a few people from Louisa and they mentioned some of the same names you did about kids from the Fort Gay area playing for LC. No problem. Belfry gets its far share from the Williamson area, NKY gets its fair share from Ohio, JC gets its far share from kids in surrounding counties. JC has seen a rise in the # of quality transfers since the program has been on a rise just as all programs do. I meant no disrespect to the LC program whatsoever so Im sorry if I came across that way, just thought it was a interesting point.

Guys, calm down. All I was saying is it possible that now some of LC's players are making the trip across the river and contributing to Tolsia's sudden rise. Its not as if Im cutting on LC or beating on my chest about JC's recent success. You are right. Nathanial is one of our best players as was a larger part in our success this year, which makes my point that much stronger. Are some of LC's better athletes leaving due to its recent struggles and going to programs that are having more success currently?

After thinking about it I apologize. I think I took your post in the wrong way and I'm just sticking up for a program I love, have spent a lot of time working with and a program that has given me a lot of the foundation for the life I have now. After thinking about the topic awhile LC has gotten only a couple of kids in the last 100 years from across the bridge but those 3 or so guys are difference makers. Fred and Nick were probably 2 of the top 10 players in the state in any class during that time. The point the LC has gotten A LOT of transfers is WAY off. I could count on my hand and still have fingers left however the kids that we have talked about were very special guys! No doubt that hurt a struggling Tolsia program. That's been almost 10 years ago so LC isn't pulling any kids from there and they aren't pulling kids from LC. LC has had a share of some of their top players leave the last few years but the schools system has had trouble too. I think they are working to put good leaders in all the schools so hopefully that is going to pay off. They also got a couple of new board members that care about the kids which is going to help too. If you look back the past 4 or so years LC has probably been hit by the injury bug about as bad as anybody in the state in any class which hasn't helped. No excuses though the coaches have worked hard, the kids have worked hard the community loves the program so it is a matter of time. Even though they have hit a speed bump if you look at the big picture LC had a chance to beat Belfry when they won it all. LC had the ball inside the 10 but couldn't kick a FG so the program hasn't been that down. They also deserve some credit for the schedule they play. They don't dodge anybody. Over the past few seasons they have played Ironton, JC, Ashland, PRP, Russell coming up, Pburg, Belfry, Breahitt, Coal Grove and have also lost to teams like Bell and Rock so it's good competition as opposed to watering the schedule down and winning a bunch of games.

Like I said I jumped the gun a little because I do care a lot about the program. My apologizes and good luck too you next year.

Guys, its all about support from the top. When Eddie Wayne was the Super, they had it and they rocked and rolled. The way things are now, they don't have it. I don't think L.C. will be back on top until they have someone in that job that will support them, regardless if Goldsmith stays or leaves.

To answer your question is lC loseing players to Tolsia I can honestly say they haven't as of yet we have lost several very good kids in the past 3 to 4 years but they haven't went across the river they have whent to Boyd, SC , JC, and Paintsville . But after what Tolsia has done this year it might be very possible we will lose a couple to them like you said kids or might I say parents do change schools for sports reason's and I'm sure they do it thinking it's in their best interest. But the kids we have lost in the last couple of years have had a right to want to go some were else because like Stick said are school system has not been the best place to get an education but like he said we have gotten a couple of new board members now and maybe we will get a couple others at the next election and I have said before thats were it has to start and I think we have the ball rolling. And I think every one will see a lot better team next season coming out of Louisa we all ready have more kids in the weight room now then we did in yearly summer of "06" and as time gets closer a program will pick up even more kids right now it's early and football is a long way off in some of the kids heads . I know we have some thinking of basketball and baseball and stuff but when it starts getting hot and the footballs start flying Then our wieght room will start filling up I know I'm wishing my life away but I can't wait untill next season starts. Football will be on us before we know it. I heard that LC got a new coach on the coaching staff that is suppose to me a genius with the offensive side of the ball. Anyone else heard this?

Thanks for the info fellas. Like I said I meant no disrespect towards the LC program when I brought up that question. Just a outsider looking in. The fact is I have alot of respect for the LC program so let me say some things I noticed when I watched LC this year. The only game that LC was out of early was the game with JC and I believe had they stuck to their guns, which was running the ball straight at you, and avoided going to the air with a young QB in Goldsmith whom I believe is going to be a very fine player next year for the Bulldogs, they could have kept that game close. But in all their other games of the season(Ashland, Mason, Belfry, etc) they kept the games close in the first half and due to low #'s which I believe will be resolved very soon teams pulled away from them in the second half when they starting getting tired from playing both ways. I to believe that the Bulldogs will suprise some ppl next season with a young team that gained alot of valuable experience this year. Look out for Coty Roberts and Boone Goldsmith, I believe they are going to be 2 good ones.

I have also heard this rumor but as of right now I guess it's just that a rumor I also have heard who it is but it will be up to him to make the call I just hope that LC will STICK to their guns and go after him because he will be a great asset to the staff we already have.;)

I have heard the same thing I hope they get that coach because they need someone to help out the offense. They need to get a plan and STICK to it.:D

Yes this coach knows what he is doing and I have talked to him many times about his philosophy on offense and just to say from talking to him is that he knows what he is doing on every play and he can STICK it in the endzone.:thumb:
