BFritz Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 With Thomas More becoming a University, are Edgewood and Crestview Hills going to become college towns? Seems unrealistic, but Thomas More already bought a building behind my place (I think for nursing) and they just built a new big new dorm (I think it's just for freshman). Does anyone know how much more they're planning on expanding? Are they going to build more buildings for classrooms and different colleges? They're turning NAIA, so they'll be able to offer athletic scholarships, which should also help attract students (the women's team winning the basketball National Title had to help put them on the map). Anyone know how big they plan on trying to go? Could this be big for Crestview Hills, Edgewood, and all the other towns nearby?
nees1212 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Nope. Still going to be a commuter school, just like NKU. I work over by NKU, and when going out to lunch, you’d never know a D1 university was nearby.

Cold Spring and places are nearby but Thomas More is pretty much in the middle of everything in Edgewood/Crestview Hills.
rjs4470 Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) It isn’t and won’t be unless TM significantly increases their enrollment AND presence within the area. In order to be a college town, the university population has to dominate and be the biggest presence within the area and the main driver of the economy. And Thomas More simply doesn’t do that. Really, if you were new to the area, you might not even realize TM is even there. Edited July 4, 2019 by rjs4470
theguru Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I would say a resounding no. Edgewood is a very nice city with high property values, I don't see all the "garbage" that comes with being a college town allowed anywhere near Edgewood Kentucky.
Voice of Reason Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I agree on the resounding no. The area around TMC is too developed and too heavily populated for any of the area around TMC to be a "college town".
