Hager Easterling out at East Carter. Per Aaron Snyder of adi Hager has been fired.

He was on the East Carter sideline for 39 years — 16 as a boys hoops assistant and 23 as the girls head coach.

Hager has said he'd like to coach again somewhere. He'd be a good pickup for some program.

What leads to the head coach of 23 years being fired?

This is what was said in the paper.

“I did not resign. Mrs. Moore fired me this morning,” said Easterling, referring to Kelley Moore, East Carter High School’s principal, on Wednesday.

“After evaluating our girls basketball program here at ECHS, the decision has been made to change leadership,” Moore said in a statement. “While this is a necessary change, it should not detract from the accomplishments of our girls basketball program under coach Easterling’s watch. He made girls basketball at East Carter High School relevant and highly competitive. We wish him the very best as he moves forward.”

What is going on in Grayson. Coach Easterling was a great coach and and even better person. I just don't understand this. Their next hire will not as good as Coach Easterling. Big shoes to fill.

Is there any 16th region jobs still open?

Russell boys is open right now, it depends if he wants to coach boys and if Russell goes after him. I think the Morgan County girls is still open. I tried to see if Morgan had hired anyone last night but couldn't find anything.

Morgan County hired Kelley Hammonds last week.

Thanks I looked for some kind of update on the net but Morgan County doesn't do a real good job updating their sports on the net. Usually the adi newspaper tweets something with them being in the 16th region but they must not be aware of the hire yet either.

Did Fleming County hire a HC yet? And Bracken just opened up.

Fleming County has not hired a coach yet.

This should be an easy hire as I am sure the principal knows who she wanted when the firing happened.
