For the third straight game, Ashland (15-16) will be tasked with taming a Lion. They fell just short of Boyd County in the 64th District finals before pulling what some would consider a slight upset over Lewis County in the 16th Region quarterfinals.

Elliott County (25-3) has been the region favorite all season, but haven't been at their best the last couple of games. They were taken to the wire by West Carter in the 62nd District finals and received a closer-than-expected fight from a hot shooting Bath County squad in the region quarterfinals.

Elliott handed Ashland a 54-42 defeat two weeks ago. This will be the first meeting between the two schools at the region tournament since 2011.

Can Ashland spring the upset and continue to salvage an otherwise disappointing year, or will Korbin Spencer and Co. continue their march toward another region crown?

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30pm this Friday at Ellis T. Johnson Arena in Morehead.

Elliott by double digits. Ashland will add to their longest streak in school history of failing to win a regional title. This will mark the 17 straight season since the Tomcats last won the 16th (17).

For Ashland to win this game they need to score and get Elliott County in foul trouble with their lack of bench. I feel like if Elliott County stays out of foul trouble, they have too much fire power for Ashland or any team in the region.
