firebird
Glad that UK had such a stellar year last year, but I cant say that I am not very disapointed that out of the 8 early signees , there was not the first kid that came from a Kentucky High School. Shame on the UK staff.

Shame on the UK staff. Hopefully UK will sign a KY kid before too long. There's still plenty of time. A lot of kids have signed and then there are those that are still making a decision. As long as our boys are playing somewhere, that's great. Doesn't matter if they are playing NAIA, JC, or DI, II, III. They're getting their chance to play on the next level. :thumb:

GO15AROD
It is special to see a "local" kid do well at UK.

cshs81
The coach gets paid to WIN . If his 9 best come from Alaska, that's where he'll go. The "where are the KY kids" is tiresome.

STRIKE3
Usually teams are looking for pitching, in the early signing period and I believe UK has 12-13 players on their '07 roster, from Kentucky.

It says they have now signed 10 players for next year, and only one is a pitcher and one is an OF/LHP. There is still nobody from Kentucky that has been signed. I understand Firebird's point and hope every Kentucky high school player, gets an opportunity to play for Coach Cohen. UK '07 Roster They are now a nationally ranked program, so they will be recruiting such.
MLB50
I looked over the roster just now and see several kids throughout Kentucky on the roster. I have to support the new coaching staff and think that he is recruiting the best players he can. What you have to remember is that the further south you go, the larger the high schools and the more games that they play. This means you get a better idea of their abilities and they are playing against better team competition because of the larger school sizes. A school with 3000 students in Florida that plays 60 high school games and most players will play only 1 sport puts these kids at a distinct advantage. Competition bet/ teammates will always make you practice and play harder. The only mistake that Cohen has made was not signing Revere. That will haunt him if he ends up playing at Georgia.
