UK is to be the 2019 & 2020 KHSAA State Softball Tournament site.

Agreed upon by the KHSAA Board Of Control at their meeting today. The softball tourney has been in Owensboro at Jack C. Fisher Park for the past 11 years, but the board has decided to make the tournament less of a "lawn-chair event" and more of a bigger spectacle.

 

UK's John Cropp Softball Stadium is currently 5 years old, and has a seating capacity of almost 1,500. The 4-field softball complex at Owensboro's Jack C. Fisher park dates back to 1987 and has nearly no spectator seating.

With the state going to single elimination it really opened it up to be in a different venue.

 

I really never understood why District and regionals were single and state was double elimination.

With this format only 8 teams will be in state tournament and they will add a semi state round to be played the same week as state tournament. I haven't seen yet the plan for where the semi state games will be played or which region will host.
