Kentucky Farm Bureau Basketball Classic

Featured Replies

It all started as being the Warrior Classic in East Ridges' first year of existence. Since then it has only grew and Farm Bureau has basically took over the reigns. Always a great slate of basketball and in its fifth year as a tourney will have seen the likes of Oak Hill (Josh Smith and Rondo), St. Louis Vashon, now Long Beach Poly and Glenn N.C. This is the first year the tournament will be held at any location other than East Ridge High School, but the move to the Expo Center will only help give more credibility to the Classic.

I like it being in the Expo !!!!!!!! What did you think about the classic ???

I attended the Classic this weekend and here's what i thought:

- Excellent venue for basketball and the best bargain in the state seeing 6 games for 7 bucks!

-Low crowd turnout.. not enough hype

-Would have been better if you took your local teams: ER, Belfry, Pikeville, and took your exotic teams; Glenn NC, Poly CA, Ballard, Central, Clay OH, and set it up as a tournament.

- Very impressed with June Buchanon in the first game.

-Belfry looked pretty good against Sheldon Clark

- ER vs. madison Southern was a snorefest, neither impressed me

- Ballard dominated Poly with their defensive intensity. Can't see Ballard as a state title contender, but they have alot of team speed and fill the lanes well.

- Wasn't impressed with Pikeville or Clay.

- Louisvlle Central looked good against a weaker team.

1. Ballard

2. Poly

3. Central

4. JBS

5. Belfry

6. Pikeville

7. Portsmouth Clay

8. Madison Southern

9. Glenn

10. Sheldon Clark

11. Magoffin County

12. East Ridge

Can't see Clay being that high on that list and haven't seen too many on that list play.

Great showcase event...great bargain...look for it to be even better next year.

I like the move to the Expo. Like said, helps with the publicity, even though it is hard to beat that smaller gym feel that the Oak Hill / Ballard game had a couple years ago at East Ridge (Especially when Josh Smith Windmilled from the Free Throw Line).

Not a bad turnout while I was there, but not even half capacity either. The basketball was good, even though I can honestly say I was very disapointed with Long Beach Poly......was expecting much better things out of them. Also dissapointed that Glenn was as poor as they were. A few years ago had Eric Wallace in which was a top 25 prospect sophmore, also Marshall Moses hometown and he does not play for Glenn. A few years ago Glenn was an incredible team, this year, not so much. Needless to say I was dissapointed in LBP and Glenn. On the otherhand congrats to Central and Ballard, two good wins for the bluegrass.
