Washington 73 Western Kentucky 55

The Toppers lose to the No. 25 Huskies on the road. WKU had a nine point lead at half but was outscored 46-19 in the second half.

Can someone remove the inadvertent period in the title? It appears that I can't edit it myself. Thanks.

One of the worst 2nd halves of basketball I've ever seen. Toppers have some good pieces still learning each other, and Washington certainly is a tough roadie, but that was an imminently winnable game.

WKU got nothing out of the point guard position all night. Hollingsworth and Savage paced them in the 1st half. Bassey had a nice game as well. Washington's zone wore WKU down in the second half. Washington has the pieces to be a really good team this season.

I have to say, it warmed my heart seeing Savage do so well, both starting and leading the Toppers in scoring. I recall the discussion on here when Savage announced the transfer and how it was said by a couple that he'd be a 7-10 guy in the rotation and that he might see some good minutes "as a senior". He's making Warren Central proud.

WKU missing two starters for this game, one of them the PG. 2nd guy we are missing was an essential piece in breaking down a zone defense. Still up at 9 at half. WKU will be ridiculously good once they get those two starters back, one of them tomorrow and the other in about a month.
