Expected result. Unexpected margin.

Very impressed with the turnaround at Oldham County

Very impressed with the turnaround at Oldham County

That makes two of us!

Oldham County is now 8-1 in Mike Fox' second season at the helm. The last time Oldham won 7 games was 2010 (7-5), so this is getting Oldham closer to returning to the powerful Oldham teams of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Fox is now 14-6 since taking over at Oldham County, an impressive number that is even more impressive when you consider he still is working without any players who have been in his system for four years....and this is his first head coaching gig.

Against BE, Oldham was pretty much able to score at will. Mark Sander is going to do great things at BE, in my opinion, but he just doesn't have the athletes yet. (ad he's only in his third year at the school, so he's pretty new at BEHS).

THe OC outside linebackers were simply too quick for BE to get to the edge with their veer running attack....the only two times BE even tried to run an option play, both plays resulted in fumble/turnovers. And runs up the middle led right to one of Oldham's best defensive players, Deven Cancel, the NT.

Oldham got two field goals from 34 and 36 yards from Sean Rawls....and a TD off a blocked punt. Star RB Lucas Jones rushed for over 150 yards and 3 TDs, which puts him at about 1,200 yards rushing for the year, with one more regular season game next week vs. JTown.

The only thing difficult to measure right now is just HOW good Oldham is. Not their fault, but the district is a bit down this year, and their non-district schedule just didn't turn out to be too strong this year (Henry County, Seneca, Jeffersontown, and North Oldham). That said, it's still hard to ignore the fact Oldham has been held under 31 points just once (a 23-17 loss to #4 South Oldham). And the Colonels have scored 196 points in the past four games.

Defensively, Oldham is giving up just 10 ppg, and has shut out three teams.

Regardless of how Oldham's season ends, Mike Fox has done a fantastic job in 1+ seasons of changing the expectations, the team's focus and attitude, and the overall football environment in Buckner.

I heard Mike Fox is Bullitt East graduate and tried to get job there before getting Oldham job. Looks like he sent them a message with this stomping.
