How can Dayton, having to cancel the game vs Ludlow do to injuries, be playing in back to back weeks against Bellevue and Beechwood? Was it injuries or more than that?

 

I’m taking Beechwood by as many their coaching staff wants. Running clock by second quarter at latest.

With the very limited number of players Dayton has for this game, it would be great if Beechwood instead played their J.V. roster for this game, but they won't. Don't humiliate them {Dayton} by running your Varsity kids out there just to pad the stat sheets.

Beechwood coaches don’t care about stats. I think it’s unfair to the Beechwood seniors to tell them to sit it out. They will play at least the first qtr. it’s not their fault Dayton is in this situation.

That's why they have a person that keeps the stats. of every series, in every game. It's what they review at half-time, along with various other things.

No one's stats get padded in these lopsided games. The starters play less than a half on offense. They usually are starting each offensive series with a short field. If you look at average per game stats, these lopsided games probably hurt player stats. The starting RB gets less than 10 carries and the starting QB throws less than 10 passes. There are no stat benefits in these games, especially the way Beechwood handles their starters by pulling them from offense as soon as the running clock is on.

Beechwood doesn’t even report tackles by the defense. And as VOR said, playing a QTR doesn’t benefit a players stats.

Understand how easy it is to make general accusations against a dominant opponent like BW. Having watched this program for years, I can unquestionably conclude that Coach Rash is first about the Tigers; but, NEVER loses sight of the integrity of the game and the highest respect for his opponents and what their program aspires to teach. Stats in these running clock games are consistently to the detriment of the individual starters. Class program 100% of the time.
