Bowling Green 21 Owensboro 12

Just got home. Another grinder out game for the Purples. Didn’t play great but played tough.

Vito Tisdale was Vito Tisdale. I’m guessing 100 yards with two TDS. Blocked an extra point and stopped a two point conversion by knocking the Owsley kid into next week.

I’ve never been one to be too hard on coaches but tonight’s game was a head scratcher to me.

Clearly, best BG player is Tisdale and best Red Devil is Owsley. Purples played Tisdale perfectly but Owensboro hardly handed ball to Owsley. Had him playing the slot. Didn’t think they played him in correct position but oh well...

Purples have taken a new identity in first 4 weeks under Spader. We are not the 50 point offense that we were for several years. I like how Spader is using the strength of the offense to his advantage.

Run First

Bucannon plays smart, no errors

No turnovers

Defense bends but doesn’t break

Any Purple fan before season started would have LOVED to be 4-0 to start season. Purples will put it in cruise next three weeks and hopefully gain some strength and have some injury recovery.

Try to find the highlight of Vito hitting the Owsley kid on 2 point conversion. Every college coach recruiting Vito will see it within next 72 hours.

Good win Purples

I miss the 50pts a game especially with a QB as capable as Beau. We have 5 state titles riding the high impact offense and still had a great bend don't break defense.

Solid win for the Purples. Playing at Owensboro is never easy and you can always count on needing to score one or two more touchdowns than you need because you know one or two will be called back.

When you said coaching was a head scratcher, I agree. But it goes for both teams. Bowling Green was out schemed and out coached the first half tonight.

BG's defense had some holes in it and Owensboro knew it and took advantage. Purples very lucky Owensboro didn't take the lead in the first half. And that interception in the endzone by Bowling Green was a game changer.

I also thought BG's play calling was not nearly as good as it has been the last two weeks. I thought it took a step back tonight. I really questioned the offensive playcalling the first game against Central Hardin and rightfully so, but the past two weeks it had been great. But tonight not so much. Thankfully Vito Tisdale is on the roster.

And what in the world was Bowling Green doing punting the ball on 4th and 1 late in the fourth quarter on the Owensboro 40?? I was honestly stunned by this and so were most people in the stands. There is no way Vito wouldn't have picked that up and our punt team had a lot of issues plus fighting wind and a wet ball. I really question Spader's decision on that one. I don't care what anyone says that as a bad call. I realize they were up two scores, but in that situation you put the game away. Too many things can go wrong on a punt especially tonight.

I thought BG made some great adjustments on the defensive side to shut Owensboro down the second half. And Owensboro QB played well, especially the first half. He could really handle those short to midrange passes.

Thankful to grind out a win tonight and looked to be without any injuries.

To have Bowling Green fans come on here and question the coaching of BG is laughable. You guys are spoiled. You have top notch coaching. One day you may not, so don't take these years for granted.

Owsley was limited due to an injury he suffered in the 2nd quarter i believe. While he wanted, and could've taken on more, the OHS coaching staff absolutely did the right thing by protecting their player.

As for the game, BG is a solid, well oiled machine. Buchannon is the truth, but I think the Dingle kid is 10 times better than his brother. Tisdale is as advertised, which i already knew. I've been watching him since the 7th grade. I'm happy that he's getting his offers. Outside of a dropped pass in the 3rd or 4th quarter, BG didn't make many mistakes.

OHS is a really good football team. Last week against Catholic was one of those games you just cant explain. Bad everything equaled a loss against a team that was playing lights out. OHS corrected some personel issues, and is showed tonight. OHS came up empty in the BG red zone a few times, which ultimately decided the outcome of the game. I'm not into moral victories, but rest assured, OHS isn't the team they can be if everyone stays committed. I think the tide is about to turn in this series and I know BG folks will laugh at that, and I dont blame you at all. I admire the Purples success, but the Devil have committed to a good scheme that fits OHS' athletes.

Congrats BG. I'm looking forward to seeing the result of the BG-South Warren matchup because the Spartans have been destroying everyone and I want to see if they are indeed that good. I think they may be, but nothing like a Purple test to see if it holds up. OHS meanwhile will get a solid test versus a Daviess County team that has more team speed than they've had in school history. If OHS plays like they did against BG they'll be fine. If OHS plays like they did against Catholic, they'll lose. It's that simple
