Class 2A

 

If any class took the Week 1 headlines, it would be Class 2A. Mayfield, CAL, and DeSales all secured monster victories. Mayfield defended the honor of Kentucky by taking down Tennessee's Class 2A Champion for the second consecutive season. CAL made a statement against a very good 5A South Oldham. The main course was DeSales shocking the Bluegrass State by taking down St. Xavier. There is no rest for the weary as Mayfield and DeSales each turn around against ranked foes. Danville will get their first major challenge as the defending champions with a very good Corbin team

After last week I’m not sure it shouldn’t be Desales and Mayfield as 1A and 1B.

Only chink I see in DeSales armor is pass defense. I could see Milton Wright having a big day against them. They are very good against the run and don’t see to many teams stopping their running game. If you stack the box Pfaadt is very accurate and will make you pay. It will be interesting to see how WR Crumes does against them this Friday. 2A playoffs are going to be great to watch this year.

You're probably right. St. X having almost no quarterback play takes a little shine off the DeSales win so I'm okay with Mayfield staying at 1.

2A seems full of good teams this year.

I didn't get to see Mayfield's game but watched Desales online. Their Defense was impressive. Their offense did well in the clutch. St X really didn't help themselves in the red zone when they stayed in that shotgun formation and never went to a power set to go straight dive on the goal line.
