I will be attending this scrimmage Friday at Hazard to check both teams out. I am sure looking forward to hearing those pads pop..

Good for Hazard. This should be a real challenge.

Belfry and Hazard have a really good relationship and have scrimmaged for several years. The coaches have a mutual respect and it is a good opponent for both teams. They generally do not follow a game situation format, instead going several series of 10 plays each, subbing liberally, and then do the same for JV players.

It is great for individual players and coaches, but from a fan's perspective, not much of a true look at the "team" in action. Never ever read too much into a Belfry scrimmage, good or bad. It is just a glorified practice against guys in different color uniforms.

I predict a lot of players get to play and a lot of plays get ran that would be after thoughts in the regular season HAHA

Really good opportunity for Hazard to take on a team with a huge size advantage up front and team speed unlike what they will have to see in most of Class 1A.

Really good opportunity for a Belfry secondary that is VERY green and struggling early on to get tested against a stout QB and passing game.

The Belfry and Hazard staff really enjoy working well with each other and it is evident in how often they scrimmage and how they always try to work 7 on 7's together.

Are there any staff connections or is this just one of those pairings that has clicked over time?

Tusi can correct me, but just think it is one of those great relationships that has worked over time and will continue to.

Dixon has a lot of respect for Haywood and vice versa. I know when one of the Hazard coaches had cancer the Belfry staff really wanted to be involved to do something.

It really is a cool relationship to see.
