Estep has moved to QB. The reports I have heard is that he is showing a lot of promise, although he may have to adjust to taking a little off of his throws. The receivers had a lot of drops during the Somerset scrimmage. A couple of young RB's with outstanding speed are in the mix to replace him in the backfield.

Below is what was said in the Somerset 2018 thread by Chet Manley. Coach Haddix mentioned all of the dropped balls in an article in the Corbin Times Tribune.

 

Wasn't there but the word I got was that in regular game simulation Corbin scored once and Somerset did not score, that ended 7-0 Corbin. Then they ran goal line for 10 plays each and Corbin scored 7 times while Somerset only scored once. Defense looked solid from what I heard. Offense still has a ways to go.

Powell County is top 10, no doubt. Nate Skidmore is HIGHLY underrated, they have a really good QB and a really deep offense. Just look at what they did last year

They really came on last year. I'd have them in the 10-15 range at this point but they can definitely go higher. It will be interesting to see how they do with a new head coach. I'm excited to see them at Garrard this week.

Last year they didn't have any quality wins in the regular season. The win in the playoffs over Casey County was their best win of the year. Wins over lowly regarded teams aren't going to move a team up to the top 10. Looking at their schedule, for Powell County to get to the top 10, they probably need to go undefeated in the regular season and I am not sure if that will do it. Last year Powell County's scheduled ranked #30 in 3A in difficulty. The one decent team Powell County beat (Casey County) had an even weaker schedule, which helps explain that win for Powell County in the playoffs. A weak schedule really makes it tough to move up the rankings.

All of this is true. Powell's problem last year was losing all of their non-district games. District 7 was so weak that their big winning streak left more questions than answers.
