The Russellville game will be the key game for Crittenden County this year. An interesting question I have was when was the last time Crittenden County beat Russellville at Russellville?

Them the schools did not play each other from 2007-2014. Out of those years I’m confident Crittenden would have taken the ‘08,’09,’10 and lost the meetings in 2011-2014, but that’s neither here nor there.

It was pretty well celebrated last season. And yes, great person. Developed some great kids into great men that are now extremely active in the community, including the head coach and basically that entire staff. He left the program in good hands.

If I recall Thompson has been the offensive coordinator for a couple of years and was the defacto "head coach in waiting" last year. I've known Al for 30 years and he wouldn't have turned it over to somebody "in-house" if he didn't have supreme confidence in them.

 

From what I've heard he did Thompson a huge favor by leaving the cupbard as full as it's been in a long time in Marion. It would have been easy for Al to stick around for one more year to make another deep playoff run. But that's not al's character. Setting up Thompson is what a good man does. And Al Starnes is as good as they get.
