Which ones are your favorites?

So many varieties!

I love Hosta plants! It took a few years, but now I have some nice shady spots and they are doing well. I’m looking for some ideas on different varieties.

Share some pictures here.

Wife loves them...just planted 6 new ones when we did some landscaping last week. She already had 4 or 5 that are moderately large.

The ones she has always had stay low and spread, but we saw some last week in Indiana that were around 3 foot tall.

What kind are they that grow tall?

Possibly Empress Wu hostas. I planted one last fall from rootstock, and it came in for the first time this year. It will get bigger in future years, but it's already about 2-1/2 or 3 feet in diameter, and coming up on 2 feet tall.

Here's mine:

Over on the right side that's an elephant ear plant that I put in as a bulb this spring. They grow in similar conditions to hostas. But regarding the Empress Wu hostas, here's an idea of how large they can get:

I also dig little Mouse Ear hostas. The leaves are tightly bunched together, small, and the whole plant is about the size of a soccer ball. Mine were hit a bit early on by snails so they ended up with some holes before I took care of the snails.

I saw these in my neighbor’s yard. Pretty neat.

I have an Emptess Wu! It’s huge but not as big the one in the picture. We want to cut out some sections and transplant to other places around the yard, now that we have some shady spots.
