True blue (and gold) Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 What does Mayfield need to do to be successful in the 2018/2019 season? Please be constructive.
sweet16 Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 They have everybody back but a role player. They should be very good.
westernky Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Mayfield should be the favorite to win the 1st region and they'll probably be a top 15 team in the state.
silo11 Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Mayfield is looking like they will be the cream of the crop for Region 1. PT, Graves, and McCracken will give them a run.

Padukacat Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 It looks as if Mayfield is the favorite for sure, but they will definitely have some competition with 3-4 teams that can beat them on a given night.
jacksonpurchase Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 it is the Cardinals year.... There will be other teams that can win it but Mayfield is the top team. They may make a run at the ALL A state this year.
bigdukesix Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Mayfield never seems to get completely over the hump, they always seem to get bogged down in some way every year.
Squirrel Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 Mayfield never seems to get completely over the hump, they always seem to get bogged down in some way every year. I agree with this. Mayfield has had several very talented teams over the years and always seem to underachieve. To me, alot of it is on the coach. I have thought for years that they could find a better option, but that just goes to show that basketball is a secondary sport at Mayfield. With that being said, Mayfield should be very solid this year. Their only fault, I would say, is that they dont have a true big man to bang down low when they come across someone such as Walton-Verona with the 6'10" kid at the All A tourney. As far as Region 1 goes, they should be the favorite, but by no means are they head and shoulders above the rest of the field. As others have mentioned; Paducah Tilghman, McCracken Co, Graves Co, and Marshall Co are right there with them. The difference between each of those 5 teams is microscopic.

I believe Walton has 2 kids that size, or close to it. One is a D1 talent... Miles, who will be attending Xavier. The Guthrie twins should lead the way for Mayfield. I kept hearing last year that this was "their year." But, I think the juniors have probably matured and they are the favorite. Lets see if they can get it done in the 1st.
Bink23bball Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I'v seen Walton this summer and Miles is 6'11 and Brooks kid is 6'9, and the also have 6'5 Pardee.
