ColonelPops
The Barney Miller theme song was a fave of mine. Great choice.
Science Friction
Favorite theme from a crime/drama. I thought both Joe Mannix, and the theme music were the coolest! [video=youtube;kLTb3_-pdU4] Joe Mannix was a cool dude. Back when we were young, those crime dramas were all the rage. Mannix, Barnaby Jones, Cannon, FBI , Columbo, etc... Anyone else remember the NBC Mystery Movie on Sunday nights? In addition to Columbo, they'd alternate with McCloud (Dennis Weaver) and McMillan & Wife (Rock Hudson/Susan St. James). Colonels_Wear_Blue
As far as TV themes written for the show, I've got to say, hands down, that my top five are: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) ...the M*A*S*H theme, Suicide Is Painless, was actually written originally for the movie, but that's close enough for me. Bluegrasscard
This may be a curve ball. Subtle, bit serious tone and opening that let you know the comedy was based on events that were serious. Even the actual song title was haunting - Suicide is Painless.
