Cats Pause Rankings

Featured Replies

I have to agree with Jay. I have covered girls high school basketball for many years now and the 16th is consistantly better than the 10th year in and year out. Now there may a better team in the 10th in a couple of those years, but as a whole, I would stack the 16th up against the 10th any year. Better coaches too.

This is not a knock, in any way, on the 10th region, fine folks down there and some great coaches, just my opinion as a broadcaster who has been around the block a few times, that the 16th is a tougher region in which to play. Some of my 10th region contemporaries may not agree (Dan Manley, Ivan Ralls, etc.) but opinions are like belly buttons, everybody's got one, some deeper than others.

It's about time Sneed gets the credit she deserves now its time for her to step it up even more.

What will happen to HC after the transfer? How far are they expected to fall? Also, why is Tabitha Lockard not in the top 10 players? She was the 3rd leading scorer as a junior last season behind Lantry and Sneed. Just wondering. Also, where can you find a Cats Pause? Thanks.

I was referring to the 9th region rankings in my quote, I just grabbed the wrong quote. Sorry for the confusion.

I got mine at Krogers on Mt. Zion. Tabitha is a good player she played middle school with my daughter and they were and are still good friends. She just does not get the recognition because of the strength of schedule LLoyd has.

Gentleman, I believe the obvious point we are overlooking is not arguing which region is best, but how far the girl's game has come in a pretty short time period. I think a case could be made for the best region being the 9,10, 11, or the 16th.

Kauinui is a good player and probably underrated I agree with Tubbycat on that, but we only have ten spots. I've seen her play a few times and she is a hardnosed player

I still believe that Montgomery wins the region based on talent AND the emotional factor with Coach High retiring

The potential for Harrison County to lose that grip on the 38th is a real possibility.

Brossart should be loaded and dominate other district opponents.

I don't think we can question their strength of schedule. They play in division II of the NKAC, which pits them against NCC, Holy Cross, Highlands, Brossart, Newport, and St. Henry. Oh well, I'd say that helps, along with Dixie being in their district. I guess it would come down to how you play against those teams.

Yes it would come down to how she did against those caliber of teams. I think they are alittle nervous after putting Haslock in the top 10 with all her great stats. Now she is no where to be found. But like I said I think she is an excellent ball player and a quaility person who gives her all every game.

Lockard is very impressive and easily in the top 3 seniors this year behind Sneed and Klei. Keep up the good work Tab :flame:

As for Sneed, she needs to start getting state honors and state attention. I have seen Rebecca Gray of Scott County play, along with Novosel from Lex Cath, and Tamara can play right with them.

It is hard to tell how good Tamara really is since she does not play w/a supporting cast. I have seen all three play and the Gray girl is the best. She does not take any plays off. She plays D, makes passes, rebounds, runs the floor, sees the floor and shoots the lights OUT. She and Novosel have had very good teammates to compliment their play. Any time you play w/great players it usually makes you that much better. If Tamara would have had any help I think she would be better than what she is and she is a terrific player, maybe the best in 9th Region.

I would agree talent wise she is the best in the 9th but that sometimes does not equate to being the best player. She does get frustrated and it seems she takes some plays off, but like you said most of these other girls have help on their team. None of them get double and triple teamed every game like "T" does. She is still a young lady and I know personally it does frustrate her for her team not to do well.
