atm10
It’s simple. In the nba the officials do not have other outside employment. They are employed full time directly by the nba. College officials almost all have other jobs/businesses and are not employed full time by the NCAA/conferences. College officials don’t get The training, scrutiny or accountability that Nba officials get. Absolutely false! You know not of what you speak! ManOfTroy
Still waiting on what the rule is? You say it’s missed ALL the time but haven’t given the rule so we can know your opinion is not just your opinion but fact Not sure of the number of the definition but it deals with how you land--both feet at the same time or a 1-2 step. Both feet--either can be pivot. 1-2 step--first one is the pivot. ALL THE TIME, you see players on the perimeter catching in a 1-2 step and then pivoting on the second foot, catching on one foot and then hoping into a shot or triple threat, or catching then hoping and then still pivoting. ManOfTroy
Absolutely not. While Higgins lost his mind in that game the reaction by some uk fans was awful and embarrassing. Flipping the script. I guess you’re part of the .000001% of basketball fans who think college officiating is good right now. It’s embarassing and awful. The amount of $$ in the college game is crazy. The power conferences should come together and employ full time officials who make it a career just like the nba. They also need to closely emulate how the nba game is called. Keep defending college officiating. It’s funny. (Again, I’m not blaming the officials. It’s the ncaa’s fault for thinking these guys can have two full time jobs and can still be good. ) How would you rate the officiating in the NFL? They seem to do ok with "part-time" officials. NCAA officials receive plenty of training. What do you think making them full-time will accomplish? They know the rules. They all have years of experience. As far as money goes, do you know how much the "big time" officials make per game? How much more would you want to pay them?

No need to hit on the other articles, they're fine. So, I assume you agree?

If NCAA officials are so great then why does the nba have full time officials? Why do they put such focus on making it better. It’s universally accepted that college basketball officiating is bad. There is a blueprint to make it better. Why wouldn’t we all want it to be better? And... the nfl is discussing making crew chiefs and/or all nfl officials full time. Why? Because the nfl is the worst officiated of all 4 major pro sports in the United States. It also happens to be the one that doesn’t have full time refs. Anybody who thinks the current NCAA system is working isn’t paying attention or is in denial. Edited January 14, 2018 by Kentuckywildcat#

Man what you think is reality is laughable! The NBA has full time officials simply bc a first year guy makes almost $200,000 why would I do anything else? The statement, which is your opinion I might add, as fact “ universally accepted” is completely false.

And the power conferences could absolutely afford to pay guys full time and cover their travel.

So starting next year paying Higgins (just an example, who by the way is very good college official)$200,000 and covering his travel will somehow make him better? The NBA has full-time officials because it's a 9 month season. The NFL doesn't because they work 20 days per year. NCAA officials lie somewhere in between, so if you want to make them full-time, great. Officials in all leagues are criticized, so just making them full-time doesn't automatically solve that. True blue (and gold)
We seem to be going in circles and, for some reason, are discussing pro and college officiating in the high school forums. I'm pulling the plug on this one.
