January 8, 20188 yr Could prove interesting. Teams are probably going to wait the Chiefs out on Smith, much like they did Garoppolo. The Pats were hoping to get a bunch for him, and nobody bit. They ended up with a second. I doubt the Chiefs will be able to get much for Smith. He's got 1 year left at 20 mil, but the guaranteed portion is pretty much up. They can release him by March 16 and pay him 2 mil. Biggest difference was the Pats could easily afford to keep Garopollo around at 1 mil. I doubt the Chiefs will keep Smith around at 20, and everybody knows it.
