I think that through the years we all have seen how those contracts really don't mean a lot. While Kiffin signed the contract with one hand, he probably had his phone on silence taking messages from AD's of any power 5 conference school that might hire him.

I assume the primary purpose is that FAU gets paid when Kiffin decides to walk. Good call on their part.

I believe it was done to convince recruits that he is staying at FAU.
