GRC gives Ashland their first loss of the season. GRC lead by as many as 10 in the 4th Q.

 

Philpot was the leading scorer for GRC with 15. All in the 2nd half as he had to sit due to foul trouble in the 1st half.

16th region not that strong as a whole. I will take a road win anytime.

Congrats to GRC! I was hoping for a final score in the 70's as I feel like that would have been in favor of my Tomcats. I wasn't able to go see this one and my time listening was limited as well, so I can't say how it played out. It went about the way I expected though with either team being close enough to pull out the win in the end. The last time I heard the radio broadcast Ashland was within 3 with a little over 30 seconds left. I feel like these are two solid teams and both could win their region.

With 39 seconds in game score was 53-50 Canada missed a FT but hit his second. He was fouled again and hit them both for the final score of 56-50. Both teams missed some FT in the 4th Q I know. At one point we were 1 of 5.

The Varsity Cards improved to 6-2 on the season with a strong road victory at previously unbeaten Ashland Blazer by a score of 56-50.

I feel like both are going to be tough outs when the regional tournaments start. It will be interesting how it plays out, but I wouldn't be surprised if both aren't playing in Rupp Arena in the sweet 16. Even with the loss tonight, I'm really happy where Ashland is at this point in the season.

Take this game to Winchester and I think you see a bigger spread. I think GRC is a 20 point favorite over APB at home. A year will tell...

Ashland is solid. About as solid team they’ve had in previous years:

 

1. GRC

2. Campbell Co

3. Pendleton Co

4. Mason Co

5. Paris

6. Scott

 

They’d fit in there somewhere for sure. Possibly a top 3 team.
