Knox Central 40 Clay County 28

Featured Replies

I wish Clay would have had a healthy team, the very place Knox ran all over Clay was the place being manned by a freshman D lineman with very little playing time under his belt, with starter Nathan Dezarn Home sick..

Everything all night long went the way of Knox, they Picked up every dropped ball, got almost every Call and turned them into big Plays, it was an ugly game to say the least by both teams Knox just wanted it more than the Tigers did tonight.

Its really laughable that KC only Beat Perry Central by a point when Clay County Blew them out in Two quarters.

I'm sure Bell and Rock will have no Problem with KC they'll name their score.

What state is your football team in when Beating Clay County in Football is a Big win.....Hardy har har

Great Game Knox Central to bad these tow teams won't be in the same league next year I enjoy their rivalry a great deal.

Big win for the Panthers. Weak schedule has caught up with Clay.

Does not every team in this district other than Rock and Bell play a weak NON - district schedule ? Look at the NON - district schedules of KNOX, CLAY, LETCHER, and PERRY and most of all SOUTHERN..... Add them all up and you will find that ALL of these teams try to pad their schedule with weak teams like McCreary Central, Rowan County and Evarts to account for the beating that they will take from rockcastle and bell.. Come on guys, it is all about being the small fish in a pond that has TWO large sharks in it.... Good luck to all teams in the Mts. However, Les you have had it out for the tigers from day one. If I remember correctly, you were the guy that said Clay could not or would not continue their success.. I tell you what will be interesting to watch is the DISTRICT game between YOUR north laurel jaguars and the tigers , colonels' , commodores, and cougers. Let's see what you have to say then...

I say congrats to Knox and good luck to the tigers. Both teams only have a handful of upper classmen... If the truth was told around here, the commodores of Perry Central have the TOUGHEST non-district schedule in this district other than Rock and Bell and Perry has the worst record in the district. LES needs to be realistic..........

They're not my North Laurel Jaguars.....Matter of fact, I've been talking good about Clay County on the radio show the entire season.

Didn't mean to strike a nerve at all. Just pointing out some facts.:)

I have no dog in the fight. I am a Breathitt and Perry fan but it seems like you have tried to put a negative spin on the Clay County season and their players. I watched Perry play Clay and I can tell you one thing, the tigers are a good team. I also know that that WHOLE district has made a habit of scheduling teams that are awful in order to try and have a winning record going in to ther Rock and bell game.

Ummm, go back and search anywhere on this website and show me where I've STATED anything negavtive about Clay except for the fact that I've said their weak schedule caught up with them. I've never dogged a player or the team. They've got great kids and a good coach and I have never once said one negative thing about anyone on their teams pal.

You've got me mixed up with someone else.

Read YOUR pre-season predictions LES and read things YOU wrote years ago... You simply dis-like clay. I subscribe to newspapers from nine counties and you are one of the writers that tries to tear down those teams around you. You are a "homer" and it shows. I don't blame you because you know who pays the bills and you do a good job of making them feel important.. Laurel County for Ever !!!!!!!!

Nope...I don't dislike Clay...actually, have lots of friends from Clay. I can see where this is going, so say what you want and tear me down all you want, but like I figured, you fail to show where on here I have actually tore down the Tigers.

Have a good day, sir:)

Great win for the Panthers. Good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.

You say that you wish Clay had a healthy team, I wish they had an older team. Things like this will happen to a young team. I don't know the average age of the Clay starters, but I know it's not old enough. I do believe the outcome would have been different had all our players been on the field, but that's something you have to overcome. Clay had all the momentum early and let a turnover get in their heads. When Knox got the MO, they kept the MO. The Clay program needs to figure out how to get their average age up (I wish I had the answer) or this will continue to happen. It's a trend that needs to end. Don't get me wrong, the young players do a great job, but they're young. The key to the Clay program is keeping their classes together. Stepp & staff have cleared a lot of humps while building the program, when they clear the "age" hump is when it will all come together.

Schedule, youth, injuries. Could it be just barely possible that Knox Central had something to do with Clay not winning this game? I know it sounds silly, but could it be possible that Coach Mills and his staff put together an outstanding game plan and stuck with it?

Congrats to Coach Mills and his Panthers. The first 6 win season since '96 is one more step up.

Coach Mills, his staff and team played a great game. KC seemed to want it more. In no way was SKINPIG trying to imply that KC didn't deserve any credit for the huge win.:thumb:

The 3 way tie breaker will be most likely solved by the Knott County vs Cawood matchup. That is if Southenr beats Clay County. If there is a 3 way tie then it is figured out by adding the teams opponents wins.

Does it only include opponents beaten? If not it stands at KC 14-18,

Madison So. 14-18 (helped greatly by Breathit at 7-1) and Clay 9-23.

If you only count opponents that you have beaten, then it's

KC 10-14

CC 9-23

MS 2-6

I'm only including non-district games.

three wishes, can you or someone that knows explain this tie breaker better? If southern beats clay, then there wouldn't be a tie (if southen beats perrry which they should and bell beats clay), it would be southern and knox for two playoff spots. But if Clay beats Southern (and gets beat by Bell) and Southern beats perry, then clay, knox and southern would all be 3 and 3. What does knott and cawood have to do with it?
