I think Russell and Belfry are the favorites in 2a!

Isn't Mercer slated for 5A next year?

I think Mercer would be the favorite, followed by Russell, then Belfry.

Exactly how far is it from Corbin to Flatwoods and how long does it take to drive?

According to MapQuest, using directions from Corbin High School to Russell High School posted on the web, it is 190 miles (3 hours, 22 minutes).

I wish Garrard County was good enough this season for me to say Corbin has to go through Lancaster to get to Flatwoods, but I'm not sure that I can make that statement!

Belfry

-First two games should be victories, although Sheldon Clark and Prestonsburg might have a say in those outcomes.

-Quarterfinal game would be against either Breathitt County or Middlesboro and either game would be on Pond Creek. Give me the Pirates, although this game formerly had the makings of a Mud Bowl, impossible now that Belfry has turf!

I thought Middlesboro played at Belfry last year...Wouldnt Middlesboro host quarters this year?

I am not that familiar with AA statewide but I would say that Belfry and Russell are definately the two from our eastyern part of the state. All indications ar ethat Mercer is very good. Imo (and again, I am more familiar with class A) that Belfry or Russell will be the champion with me leaning toward Belfry.

Middlesboro was lower seeded than Belfry last year and that is why they hit the road. Leslie Co was the 1 seed

That appears to be too long a trip for a possible third round game to me. It would probably take Wayne Co. 4 1/2 hours to make that trip if they were to win the district playoff games.

I thought the KHSAA was trying to cut down on the travel time in the playoffs this year.

Either Russell or Belfry will most likely be playing in state, so, yes, there chances will be at least 50-50...You've gotta love a coin toss...With exception to maybe Mercer, they most likely would be a favorite over anyone else from the west..

We're all mistaken...the KHSAA is trying to cut down on (or eliminate) the travel time of Catholic schools to the Class AAAA state finals. They aren't really worried about anyone else!

Just have to say also. I don't want this to become a trash talking thread. Any person who disagrees, make a case for your team.

There are many teams who have legitimate claims, there is no need for this thread to be dumbed down.

Lets have a real discussion about 2a football.

:thumb: No matter what is posted on this thread ---This IS the BEST post on this thread.

This is the best thread I have read this year that had Belfry, Russell and Mercer all being talked about. The trash talking got so bad in the other threads, I quit reading them.
