Update: Valdosta High School....

Featured Replies

I believe it is.

Then I find it hard to believe they could throw enough money his way to pry him away from Trinity (which itself hired Beatty and moved him and his family from Missouri). If offensive genius Coverdale is content to remain there as a coordinator rather than take a seemingly more lucrative job at the college level, I have to believe some serious compensation is in play.

I don't know that the school commented at all. I have first hand knowledge of the facts from multiple sources within Valdosta. Can anyone on this board top that? I didn't think so.

Your supposed first hand knowlege becomes our second hand knowledge so it really depends on whether we believe you first and your alleged source second. :D

I'm joking of course. But surely you can see, based on old threads, why someone would use the term "supposedly" in connection with this.

I don't have a clue as to whether Beatty was offered the Valdosta job or not, and I really don't care if he turned it down or was turned down. But I think it's fair to say the issue is a bit cloudy.

This sums up my thoughts on the matter very well also.

You can be as cloudy as you care to be. I trust the folks down in Valdosta and that are part of the process that told me that they had offered Coach the job. I won't even say that the folks that I know wanted Him to be hired, they just reported to me that "the job has been offered to your old coach" and that "he is taking a few days to decide". Later I was told during a phone conversation that "Coach Beatty has decided to remain at Trinity". These are facts, they aren't cloudy at all. I wonder why its so hard to believe that a guy that has won in K.C. at a public school, has won four state titles in six years at the highest level in Kentucky was offered this job? Sounds pretty simple to me...that is unless you just have so much dislike for the program that you let it "cloud" your vision.

There are a few things that factored. One, Valdosta was offering some serious cash (ironically money isn't Beatty's biggest need right now). Two, Beatty now feels a home here in Louisville, his wife does very well at KCD, his children are doing well locally. This is now his home. It is very tough to throw yourself into the fire at another powerhouse, though it seems their glory years maybe behind them. I personally feel that we are Bob's last high school stop, I maybe wrong, but it would take a school like Lakeland, Byrnes, Independence, etc...to leave our very own powerhouse.

As long as he is successful as he has been, I would imagine that leaving Trinity would be a very hard thing to do.

^ Exactly....add to that the TRUE family atmosphere, the marketablility of the city we live in...it is an easier sell than most, IMO.
