October 22, 20178 yr I know we have some FCS fans on here, so let's create some discussion for fellow D-1 (AA) schools! Rank is in parenthesis. Let's start with how the top-ten teams did: James Madison (1) 46, William and Mary 14 North Dakota State (2) 24, Western Illinois (12) 12 Jacksonville State (3) 30, Eastern Illinois 14 Illinois State (24) 37, South Dakota (4) 21 Samford (14) 24, Wofford (5) 21 Central Arkansas (6) 45, Northwestern State 17 Sam Houston State (7) 63, Lamar 27 Southern Utah 46, Eastern Washington (8) 28 Northern Iowa 19, Youngstown State (9) 14 Delaware 42, Richmond (10) 35 Now let's see how the Kentucky teams did this week: Morehead State 29, Stetson 26 Eastern Kentucky 31, Tenessee-Martin 21 Other result that I feel deserves a mention: Columbia 22, Dartmouth 17. With that win, Columbia takes first place in the Ivy League.
October 25, 20178 yr Other result that I feel deserves a mention: Columbia 22, Dartmouth 17. With that win, Columbia takes first place in the Ivy League. I'll say. I don't know for certain about the dates, but I know football hasn't ever been a huge focus of Columbia like it has been at some other Ivies. I'd be shocked if they've claimed an Ivy football title in the last 50 years.
October 25, 20178 yr Looking forward to a JMU - North Dakota battle down the road! :thumb: North Dakota State to be specific, I assume
October 25, 20178 yr With the UDayton Flyers now sitting at 3-5, I definitely haven't paid as much attention to the goings on in FCS as I have in the past. They've been pretty poor this year. Young squad after graduating a boatload of multi-year starters last season.
October 25, 20178 yr Easton Stick threw two consecutive passes that were picked off, one of which was returned for a TD. Besides that TD, the Bison held the Leathernecks to a couple of FGs in the first half but that was all. Defense has played great most of the season with the offense being just blah. Another tough battle this week as NDSU hosts Northern Iowa. If NDSU can get through the conference slate unscathed, it will be as impressive of an accomplishment as they have had during their run.
October 25, 20178 yr How is Youngstown state doing? 3-4, but all losses have been hard fought, and to great teams. NDSU beat them in OT a couple weeks ago but I felt it was the best team NDSU had played this year. They are now in position though to where they need to win out (or can maybe drop one game) to make the playoffs. Their schedule gets much easier from here to the end of the season, so I think they make it.
October 25, 20178 yr Author Looking forward to a JMU - North Dakota battle down the road! :thumb: Pleeeeeeeeeeeease somehow have the two teams meet in the semi-finals so it could (potentially) be at Bridgeforth
October 25, 20178 yr Author I'll say. I don't know for certain about the dates, but I know football hasn't ever been a huge focus of Columbia like it has been at some other Ivies. I'd be shocked if they've claimed an Ivy football title in the last 50 years. Haven't won an Ivy League championship since 1961, in which they shared the title with Harvard (both teams finished 6-1 in conference play).
October 25, 20178 yr Pleeeeeeeeeeeease somehow have the two teams meet in the semi-finals so it could (potentially) be at Bridgeforth NDSU would have to lose a couple games and look bad for that to happen.
October 25, 20178 yr Author NDSU would have to lose a couple games and look bad for that to happen. I know, but a man can dream, right?
October 25, 20178 yr I know, but a man can dream, right? No. How about JMU lose and come back to Fargo?
