Kind of disappointed with the way Ludlow played as I didn't think they would win but thought they might have kept it a little closer. Ludlow never threatened to score at all and NCC fumbled it away three times, twice inside the red zone or it could have been a lot worse.

NCC pulled offensive starters after one play in the second half and defense soon after that.

I was leaning towards Ludlow as the #4 team for the playoffs over Dayton but having seen Dayton three times I am thinking the Greendevils take the last playoff spot. One thing in Ludlow's favor is the game is at Ludlow but I think Dayton QB Hightchew is too much for the Panthers.

Nice win. Thats one way to get back on the winning side.

:thumb: I thought they would keep it atleast somewhat competitive, but you got to give NCC credit they came out and completely dominated the game. They didn't allow Ludlow to get anything going on offense all night long. Ludlow's defense had NCC in 3rd and long situations for most of the first half, but NCC made just about everyone of them with a long play. Ludlow came out using 8 and 9 guys in the box to try to stop NCC's running game, but NCC came out also passing again, and the receivers were able to beat the corners in one on one coverage last night. NCC did pull their 1st string after the first series for them, but Ludlow also started pulling their offensive and defensive starters midway through the 3rd quarter as well. So I believe the last 3 tds for NCC came the backups for both teams playing against each other... It was just a really bad game played by Ludlow and a great game played by NCC. Congrats to NCC and good luck the rest of the year.

I really dont know how you can use this game to compare Ludlow and Dayton, because in both games Dayton was down 28 to 0 to NCC at half and Ludlow was down 33 to 0. So in both cases NCC really were just dominating both teams. Dayton did play HC pretty tough though, but I think you would have to wait till Ludlow plays HC this week to see how Ludlow and Dayton really compare. I really look for Ludlow to give HC a pretty competitive game actually...

All I know is though when Ludlow and Dayton do play their game for the final playoff spot it will be a war a just a great game. Both teams are really good teams and it should be really fun to watch.

I am not just using this game to compare the two. Saw Dayton pretty much dominate Lloyd and that was despite allowing Lloyd to start between the 40 and Midfield after EVERY Dayton kickoff.

Saw Dayton play a lot better half trailing NCC 28-0 than Ludlow did in trailing 33-0. Dayton had two scoring threats in that game (half) and NCC didn't fumble it away twice in the red zone to Dayton. I'm not sure if Ludlow ever crossed midfield. The passing game was just bad and they would have been better off running the ball and punting instead of throwing INTs.

Saw Dayton play well in the first part of the Holy Cross game only to kind of let MO go and flatten out against the Indians who took over.

Maybe it was just an off night for Ludlow.

I'm not saying it is impossible for Ludlow to beat Dayton. One thing is the home field. The other is the trickeration they use in the backfield. If they can fool Dayton a couple of times they can get some long runs out of it. Although if Dayton gets a copy of the film from this game they should know what they need to do to stop it. Lots of guys going both ways for both teams so any injuries could be huge.

I also was surprised at the lack of size on Ludlow. I don't expect them to line up with Beechwood or NCC but I think Dayton is bigger on both lines and has more size and speed at the skill positions. Neither team has any kicking game that is outstanding and I think Dayton is better at the return game.

The key will be if Ludlow can contain Dayton's QB. NCC obviously stopped him cold, Holy Cross did a good job as the game went on, and Lloyd never did figure anything out. If Ludlow can contain him while breaking a few long runs off on offense they could get a win.

It should be an exciting game and the playoff implications will make it even more fun.

I not tring to start anything here, but I do believe its kind of hard to have watched the 2nd half of this game. If i'm not mistaken I thank this game was called at halftime because of the weather.

Yeah I know Dayton has done real well this year and it will be a great game. But from what I understand that QB is really the only offense they have at Dayton. I know he is really hard to stop though, but if Ludlow contains him it sounds like Dayton don't have much else on offense. Then again I have not seen Dayton this year so I dont know for sure, but I just heard and from these threads that QB is the only thing Dayton as on offense...Ludlow dont use really any trickeration as you said in the backfield its just a handoff or a fake handoff just basic stuff, but just teams have a hard time stopping it. The way I look at it is that Ludlow probably has alot more of a better balance offense than Dayton, but Dayton probably has a better defense than Ludlow at this point. I have seen most of Ludlows games this year, and this is probably their worst all around game they played all year. So its really hard to judge them on this game... But I guess if you did see this game, I could see why you would have Dayton as being the favorite right now between them because Ludlow did play pretty bad last night.

I think we will see both Dayton and Ludlow play their best games of the year though when they play each other and I know I cant wait to see it. But I guess we need to save the rest of this talk for 2 weeks from now for when they play. :thumb:

Did you read?

We (futurecoach and myself) both were talking about comparing NCC being up 28-0 at the half over Dayton versus 33-0 at the half versus Ludlow. Did you note that I said Dayton had two scoring threats in the "game (half)" because although it was an official game they only played a half.

I wouldn't say Dayton's QB is the whole offense but everything does start and end with him. Dayton actually has some receivers who can burn you if you forget about them and I see that as a potential problem for Ludlow. Dayton's QB throws a nice ball. I actually tend to see Dayton as a little more balanced than Ludlow at this point but I think both offenses will move the ball.

Defensively I think Dayton is a little better against the pass because (surprise) the QB is also a very athletic safety. Dayton's run defense kind of tends to be all or nothing which is why I think Ludlow will break off some nice runs. NCC's Vickars had 200 yards in the first (and only) half played against Dayton but probably had around 5 carries for no gain or a loss and around 5 that went for 30 yards or more.

Neither team seems too have too much of an advantage in the kicking/return game (Dayton's QB/Safety also kicks-off and kicks PATs) so I can't see one team dominating field position all night.

well im sorry then I misunderstood what you were saying

That's okay my clothes are still drying from that night.:D
