I said "that's why he's the back up" as an over reaction statement to match you and others that over react about Dalton...

 

We all know the truth... we all know why McCarron is the back up...

 

Dalton has earned the right to be the starting QB and AJ has done nothing to take it away from him... period.

 

The year AJ went to the playoffs, Dalton was having quite possible the best season of any QB in the league,certainly a top 3 season.

 

You may want to learn who you are talking to. I am not the one who complains about every little thing with Dalton. In fact I even have said many times in the regular season especially in games at 1 and 4 he is very good. However my problem is his play in prime time and playoff games.

 

Dalton has been surrounded for his career with the best talent on offense and defense any Bengals qb has ever had. So yes he should do well. As we seen that has not been enough to help him play well in biggest games.

 

Never once have I said he is bad. That is my other buddy on this site. However I believe McCarron could also win regular season games like Dalton with this talent. However he may handle the bigger moments better than Dalton has in his 6 years.

 

I don't want to just settle for being a good regular season too. We have done that. I want to take the next step. Dalton has shown nothing in 6 years to show he can handle those moments. I fully admit maybe McCarron would fail. I am just willing to take that chance that he wouldn't in hopes he would handle those moments better than Dalton and get us over that next step.

He sure was against avg to bad teams. He still lost to some

good teams as usual.

 

Ive always said Dalton looks great against avg to bad teams. But when it's a prime time game or big game he looks bad a lot more than good. He also isnt able

to bring the team back in crunch time. That's Dalton, he looks good against a guy teams and looks bad against good teams. What's his record vs Steelers?

 

Isn't it possible that the Steelers have better players and better coaches as a whole than the Bengals?

Were you a fan of the Bengals in the 90's? That's mediocrity. This is a far cry from it. Unless you believe AJ is Tom Brady behind the scenes then you can't honestly believe the Bengals are complacent when it comes to the QB position.

What is the difference between the 90 Bengals and the 2000 Bengals? Oh yea, the 90 Bengals have a playoff win. 1990

Green has been hurt quite a bit... I remember early on second or third season, Green hurt his knee at Pittsburgh, missed a few games, Bengals still made playoffs ..

 

And I'll add, personally I think Green has performed worse than Dalton in the playoffs...

 

Dalton missed a throw to Green in Houston ... but Green dropped a TD down the sidelines against San Diego, not to mention Gio's game changing fumble near the goal line against San Diego...

 

Point is, the team is to blame... all of them

 

Was Daltons rookie season the defense carried them, even when Green missed a few with that knee.

 

In the playoffs teams who win all have something in common. A qb who makes a play when they need it. No doubt the rest of the team also has had its problems including Green. However that is when it's even more important to have a leader at qb who could handle those moments to make a play to turn the tide when things are going bad. With Dalton his play usually gets worst when other areas get worst.

 

I also agree Green hasn't played well in biggest moments. Maybe it's not a coincidence the one big game Green came up big was the same game McCarron was the starter for the playoffs. Hmmm what a coincidence....
