Just shows the quality of basketball at the D3 level. Many HS kids are caught off guard at the abilities of others at all levels in all sports.

Yep, seems to happen way too much at D III level.

Sometimes it happens the other way, too, where a guy who was good but not great in H.S. for one reason or another (e.g., maturing) becomes very good at the D3 level.

Some kids realize at the D3 level it is a pay to play situation and it is just not worth the time and effort of hoops. It may or may not be about playing time. It may be about what a kid likes and wants to focus on during his time at school.

I think some of it is guys start working so hard in middle school and into high school on their games. They start working out and working with trainers and traveling on the AAU circuit that by the time they get to college they think why I am I doing this? They might still love the game but playing in front of 500 people and no one talking about the results and they just realize there is no end goal. Why do it?
