The SEC and the Big 10 are both strong at the top, but it seems like their middle tier teams have taken a step off this year. For example, the Arkansas-Alabama game was tough to watch. The Big 10 is weaker at the bottom in my opinion, so the SEC gets the nod, but just barely because I think the SEC East contenders are all fraudulent. Third thru fifth is really muddled. The BE obviously has the most contenders, and a much more competitive middle of the pack than before, but the bottom is worse than the Pac10 and the Big XII. On the otherhand, the Big XII has ZERO title contenders at this point, and some of the middle and lower teams that were supposed to get better aren't. The Pac-10 still smells like a one team conference, and but I think is actually the most solid conference top to bottom this year. If ASU were as good as they should have been, and Cal had shown up for the UT game, they'd be third in my book. The ACC stinks. Period.
September 29, 200619 yr You know I'm with you on Carr, but I see a much improved D this year and that's why I'm sold on them. I don't think the SEC has a team that matches up well on BOTH sides of the ball over 60 minutes. There is no doubt the SEC has a few teams that can dominate one side of the ball, and do just enough on the other. tO$U and UM are loaded on both... Looking forward to Saturday night. Still not sure how good Iowa is.
