July 27, 20179 yr Author Any news on Coach Jones' condition?I haven't heard anything this morning. WSAZ news reported that the shooting occurred following a domestic dispute with family members and that David drove himself to the hospital. I pray he will be OK.
July 27, 20179 yr In the past when I heard news like this I'd tell myself that I'd never be in a position like this. Then a few times I'd get caught up in a situation that kept escalating to the verge of this point. I now know to never judge anyone in a case like this. You never know when you may be next and you can't always control other people's actions. I wish him the best.

David and a local guy started a facebook page sometime back that is solely used to promote local athletes in all sports. They are entertaining and they have the athlete's interest at heart. That page posted this message yesterday regarding this situation... Sitting here at the hospital with Phelps Head Football Coach David Jones after he was a victim of shooting a couple nights ago at his home in Little Italy Camp (Matewan WV). David had this to say-"I am alright and want to thank everyone for all their prayers. I am truely overwhelmed by all the people that has reach out and wished me a speedy recovery". David went on to say- "I can't wait to get back on the field with my players. I just ask people to respect my privacy at this time, so i can move forward and bring a state championship to Phelps". Coach Jones wants everyone to know he plans on being on the sideline coaching his team to a victory in this years Pike County Bowl. We want to thank everyone that has wrote and left messages for David on the page as well. David is still working for these athlethes from his hospital bed. He hasn't stopped working toward his ultimate goals to bring a Championship to Hornetville and make sure each and every kid in the mountains has a better chance for a brighter future. David is continuing to beat the odds on and off the field, the doctors are saying he may get to go home as early the end of the weekend. Please keep the prayers coming, they are clearly working.
