June 11, 20179 yr https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/10/us/politics/sessions-senate-russia-election.html?_r=0 Sessions had a bad week last week. I can't see the coming week being any better.
June 11, 20179 yr I don't suppose anyone else is troubled by this: He removed himself after it emerged that he had met at least twice with the Russian ambassador in 2016, though he had testified at his confirmation hearing that he had not had contact with Russians.

Didn't he say that he said that because he had met with them as a Senator and not as a Trump surrogate which is what he thought he was being questioned about? Or am I misremembering?

But Mr. Sessions, who as a senator from Alabama was an early and staunch supporter of Mr. Trump, has insisted that his answer to Mr. Franken was correct when viewed in context because he was responding to a question about Trump campaign contacts with Russians. Mr. Sessions said he considered himself to have met with Mr. Kislyak in his role as a senator, not his role as a Trump campaign surrogate.
June 11, 20179 yr Kinda like what the definition of "is" is.:lol2: I'm not sure I'd believe a word of his "testimony".

June 11, 20179 yr Author Why did he have to recuse himself? That was one the questions Comey wouldn't answer in open session. When Sessions did recuse himself Trump hit the ceiling. He says the wrong thing this week, and he may headed to the unemployment line. FWIW, Trump would get a few points from me if he fired Sessions for any reason.

I believe Sessions said at the time that since there was an appearance of impropriety that he would recuse himself as not to taint the investigation. Isn't that what he should have done if he there was a question about his involvement?

Isn't that what he should have done if he there was a question about his involvement? That's exactly what he should have done; however, doesn't really line up with the spin he has placed on his meetings with Russians.
June 11, 20179 yr That's exactly what he should have done; however, doesn't really line up with the spin he has placed on his meetings with Russians. He was being questioned about activities helping the campaign and said that he hadn't met with the Russian Ambassador in that capacity. He felt meeting as a Senator and not discussing the Campaign was different, when others didn't agree he recused himself. At least that's how it looks to me, you may see it completely different and that's cool.

His participation in Comey's firing probably pushed him up the witness list.
