Explain for me what happens when someone wants to complain about an official? Where do they go? I'm not talking about the assigning secretary because they have no authority. All they do is tell them where to go. You still haven't given me the name of the local organization umpires belong to? How does an umpire get held accountable when there is nobody to call? That's why altercations happen on the field. That's the only thing I've been attempting to say.

 

Assignor has way more power than you are giving credit. Ultimately determines who gets games. Games get pulled if officials screw up and it affects future assignments. They also play a large role in who works postseason.

 

Every coach at the high school level knows the chain of command if they have an issue with an official or their performance. I am confused when you say no one to call? Is that from a fans perspective? Why would any fan/parent feel they have the right to call local assignor or KHSAA regarding an officials performance?

The KHSAA doesn't have anything setup for oversight, and that is who you would call. I've actually heard straight from a KHSAA representatives mouth that they do not assert oversight with umpires. Guess who else knows this? Umpires. So they know they can get away with about anything anymore. One guy didn't even know pitchers go by pitches now instead of innings. It's different in other states. I just worry it could get worse before it gets better.

Assigning secretaries have more power than you think. They can fine, suspend, and not give them any games. That is not speculation that is the truth.

The manure is spewed from your mouth. Whenever you shut up and actually listen to what people are telling you. You might learn something. Like the umpires don't choose the Assigning Secretary. The Policy Board does. Assignors work for the schools not the officials. So, they can and do assert their power quite often. Each coach knows exactly who to call and if they don't, they are an idiot. Also, the guy to call for baseball umpires at the state level is Butch Cope but you better have video supporting your claim.

 

As far as the umpire not knowing the pitch count rule, it has been stressed many times over that the umpires have nothing to do with that rule whatsoever.
