May 12, 20179 yr James Clapper made it clear today that he never told POTUS that there was no evidence of collusion. He said in his role he would not know unless FBI brought it to his attention which they had not. He says that's normal. He also said POTUS characterization of this being a "witch hunt" is false. He said POTUS initiated the dinner invite and not Comey. Said Comey didn't want to go because of the optics but went out of a sense of obligation. He spoke highly of Flynn as a military man but said he had the skillset to be NSA adviser. He said the morale is very high at the FBI. He said the Russia story is not "fake news." He said he hopes a thorough screening was done before letting Russia's state-run news into the inner confies of the West Wing.
May 12, 20179 yr Author As to the first point it shows how you really have to take everything said with a grain of salt. It would be easy to conclude he was saying there was no evidence nor would there be evidence. What we don't know is what he would actually know when as he described in his interview today.
