What does Bishop Brossart need to do to improve in 2017? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Brossart doesn't have much of a line. Could be a very long season unless they have a quarterback that can run run run.

Given their somewhat short history, they usually manage to be pretty competitive with their opponents - could surprise a few teams this year- be ready -Go mustangs!

They lost two major talents on the line last year. But year in and year out the Mustangs put a talented team on the field.

 

They have a good receiver returning (Donnelly??) but a new QB as Keller graduated as well.

 

Who else is returning??

Glad to see this thread revived, I missed it when it was first posted (fishing in Canada), and hate to see anything Brossart go without being commented upon.

 

The graduation of six seniors including quarterback Chase Keller, two key linemen in Jake Martin, a blue-chipper, and Matt Blank who has taken his talents to Morehead State will certainly have to be addressed. Senior-to-be Ben Hyslop also defected to Paris towards the end of the school year, further expanding the void.

 

While the '17 line is a concern, the cupboard is not bare, and we will get by.

 

Junior Tyler MacDonald showed his prowess at quarterback last season, spelling Keller quite admirably, in those times that he was asked to fill in.

 

We will indeed be speedy. An entire thread in the past basketball forums was dedicated to the discussion of Enky First Team Track sprinter, Bryce Donnelly (senior). Look for Bryan Duffy (Junior) to have a bust-out season.

 

The Mustangs have 14 quality juniors returning, many of whom saw quality minutes a year ago. Look for them to make a major impact this season.

All 8 returning seniors can play a position.

 

Coach Paul Wiggins returns for his fourth season as head coach. He is the perfect coach for our program and our kids love playing for him - a perfect combination.

 

While we are not ready for prime time on the largest of stages, we are quite comfortable doing what we do best, playing competitive Class 1A football.

 

Incidentally, the Mustangs will play their four home games this year at Campbell County High School in Claryville.

Replacing Martin and Blank up front will be difficult, but someone always steps up and fills in. I think McCormick and Litmer have that ability but I've heard rumblings Litmer might not be returning. Not everyone can touch the ball so you could see some position changes in order to fill any voids. Good luck this season!
