Pulaski County Football

They are IMO what has made most of the problem. Coach Hines and crew are taking the high road and it will pay off. Will the new admin. let him stay the course? Who knows? I agree with Mr. Shue, there has been a talent drop off at Pulaski County. I don't agree with the coaches comments. sometimes the papers lead you with a question that maybe shouldn't have been asked or just a "no comment" answer should be given. The student body thing is nothing different than any other school has when a team is losing. Everybody loves a winner and everybody makes fun of a loser.

It's hard to blame two kids for the problems of Pulaski's football program. Everybody at PC is looking for scapegoats, and those two just happen to be the easiest to find.

I'm not looking for a scapegoat. Just giving my opinion based on observation. Last year some doors were opened and things became acceptable behavior. Everything then was blamed on the principal. He's gone and lots of the behaviors are still there. It's funny how Draughn is mentioned in this thread because a leader of his style could help turn things around. I am not talking about his play but his attitude. I think the leaders of last years team headed down the wrong roads and several are still following. Or at least thats how I see it.

the perkins kids caused problems and everyone knows that. I think that maybe a different assitant coach or two would help things there. Also, they do probably need to tweak the system some but the middle school bunch is perfecting the spread and will be darn good in a couple of years

Hasn't that been the thought for the last 3 or 4 years? How did this years juniors and seniors do in middle school?

The juniors and seniors this went through several different coaches with different coaching styles and game plans ( most of which relied on the atheletic skill of a few rather than teaching fundamentals and teaching them the game). They had winning seasons but not to the success of the last two middle school teams.

On a side note, PC played much better against Taylor Co. this week. They still made a ton of mistakes but it looks like this team took steps in the right direction on friday.

How did Ammons get into the conversation about Pulaski County football?

:thumb: He must be memorable if he was the first to come in mind!Looks like

the I can't win if I don't have talent excuse, and oh by the way let me belittle someone else's talent!Nothing like a few losses to flush a coaches true colors!

Why the attack on a coach who is trying to do the best he can for a team that is struggling? As for his comments about Ammons, I have seen several QB's around the state and he is no better or no worse than, say, Cashen at Corbin or Jones at SW. They are not getting Mr. Football talk. All the hype around Ammons is just that. He is a good QB, but there are just as good if not better in the state right now. PC football seems to be going through the growing pains that any young team goes through. With the exception of Campbellsville ( no offense C'ville backers), they have played a very difficult non-district schedule and after watcing them play Corbin, I predict that they can win 3 district games and make the playoffs this year.

In the immortal words of John McEnroe:You Cannot be serious!

(Particularly your Ammons comments)

Take the starting QB off of a lot of teams roster and the same thing would happen. It would be like Somerset losing Deaton this year. Things would change dramatically. There would no longer be the Deaton/Cole show and you have to have both partners at the dance. Give Hines time to develop a QB with some age and maturity and then if he doesn't win you cast some stones. No coach wins without talented players.

Hines career record speaks for itself, some coaches can compete with less talent and some can't.

This just helps prove my point. Had the transfer brothers not "arrived" at PC, Deaton would probably still be there.

Good point.

But without John Cole to throw to...
