Basketball has been the darling of the KHSAA for years and FB was the Red-headed step-child. Now, things are a little more equal. The simplest solution is to push the start of all the seasons back a week or two and work around any conflicts with the Sweet Sixteen and Rupp Arena.

Is this guy serious?

When is it not basketball season in Kentucky?

There is no AAU football that I'm aware of.

Football teams don't go to team camps where they play numerous games throughout the summer.

If that guy really believes that football has rules advantages over basketball he is nuts. Let me guess, if he gets his way and football coaches are prohibited from having players lift or participate in passing leagues in June then the basketball coaches will be allowed to have them on AAU teams.

I think the simplest way to end the season earlier is to only take two playoff teams per district. This will save two weeks in the season.

Cut out the passing league????????  :madman:

What does that have to do with anything????? Ok then, let's cut out the passing league, but we'll also cut out all the open gym time that goes on during football season, plus summer (mandatory in most programs) AAU teams.

Why are coaches adament about starting basketball games so soon. Why not push everything back a week and allowed basketball teams to play 22 games in the regular season. They do this in Indiana. Twenty-two games would mean two a week, which makes for an eleven week season...JUST LIKE FOOTBALL. Basketball has been the spoiled darling of the KHSAA for years and now that they are having to share space, they haven't reacted very well!

Somehow... I can't see Coach Starns and Coach Matney seeing eye-to-eye on these "ideas"...

The title of this thread and a blank opening post would've caused opinions on BGP...

I doubt they are the only ones in Kentucky who would disagree. I doubt that by a long shot.

But since Johnson Central has very few football/basketball players, their disagreement would mean much less than it would at certain other, smaller schools in the 15th Region, or across the state.

This so called coach is making a joke of himself, statewide. Wonder if the AD has the sand to do anything about his comments.

Agreed... (though Central isn't THAT big).

Still, I'd love to be a "fly on the wall" if/when the two coaches get together to "discuss" it.

:sssh: ;)
