Pool 2 Simon Kenton , Campbelll County, Russell County, Villa

Pool 3 Apollo HS, Highlands HS, Dixie Heights, Holy Cross

 

Simon Kenton and Highlands have been playing great ball....

Anyone's tournament IMO!

That's a nice looking field. I think Beechwood, Simon, Highlands, Holy Cross and Campbell all have a good chance of winning this tournament. I know Apollo did well in this last year but I don't know much about them.

Does anyone have the playing schedule and where the matches are being played for the Cake Classic?

Cake Classic is played at Highlands High School and Highlands Middle School in Fort Thomas, KY.

 

Matches are 6,7,8 on Friday. Matches begin at 9am on Saturday.

 

Apollo lost a senior this week so they are down from last year. I think it should be Highlands or Simon Kenton if they bring their game!!

Beechwood beat Holy Cross in the finals of the Cake Classic. Highlands and Campbell County tied for 3rd place. Great tournament.

 

Its called the Cake Classic because Highlands (and Fort Thomas in general) are lovingly referred to as "cake eaters" so several years ago the Cake Classic was started. Along with the trophy, the winning team receives a cake.

I can't believe anyone with the name "boom" doesn't know the meaning of "cake".

 

Congratulations to Matt Long and his Lady Tigers. The Holy Cross Indians were very tough. Great effort by both teams:thumb: Great fans on both sides.

 

Very nice event sponsored by Highlands. Those cajun chicken sandwiches were extraordinary!

I would agree with your explanation of "Cake eaters" with the exception of your reference as being "Lovingly referred to". You could include the teams from Ft Mitchell as Cake eaters as well and they are anything but loved by their opponents.

In the old days we used to hear that a lot from Ludlow fans, but not any other opponents. Havent heard it in recent years though.

 

I do not know how Russell finished. Unfortunately did not have the opportunity to see them play.
