Why not, if it's so hot in there? Granted, I've not been there in years, but I don't recall it being that hot.

I guess the belief is they push enough air that it could affect the flight of the ball. They turn them on at half time and you can start to feel the difference, but then turn them off again when the teams come back out.

Berea College, who's gym is about the size of Henry County (maybe smaller), has two of those fans and they run during the game. I'm not sure they disrupt the arc of the ball as much as Henry County is apparently saying.

Yea I don't now if it does or not, but apparently someone thinks it might, or maybe they think a coach here or there thinks it might so they turn them off to quell any issue before it arises.

I visited a few gyms during the district and region tourney's and due to the temp outside and number of bodies they were all hot. After watching a lot of poor shooting at the 8th region tourney I'm sure the fans turned on wouldn't have hurt. Drink water and dress accordingly.

I've been in a lot of gyms in my day, but I have NEVER been in one that hot at that time of the year, even gyms a quarter the size of Roy. Not to say there haven't been any as I'm sure some of the smaller places, when they get packed they get plenty hot, but I've never been in one like the Roy was Monday night. Heck, there are few gyms I have been in during the dead of summer that were not that hot. Now finals night it wasn't as bad, even with a similar sized crowd.

Isn't there something fun about the idea of Henry being the HS version of the old Boston Gardens?
