Heck of a game at Breathitt Coliseum before a packed gym.

I thought Knott had it won in regulation when they were up 9 but Perry got some big steals and was finally able to hit a couple of 3s to pull even.

With the game tied at 32 with over 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter Perry chose to hold for the last shot. They ended up taking a bad shot and Knott had a long 3 attempt at the horn that missed.

 

In the overtime the game was back and forth but Perry finally gained a 3 point lead with about 20 seconds left. Knott was able to knock down a 3 from the top of the key as time ran out. Second overtime.

 

Perry gained control in the 2nd OT and was able to pull out the 7 point win.

 

It it was a tension packed thriller of a regional championship game but it appears from the KHSAA scoreboard and the BGP threads it wasn't the only one across the state tonight.

 

This is the first state tournament appearance in quite a while for Perry Central, who had gone a bunch of times following the consolidation of MC Napier and Dilce Combs in the late 1990s. I think the last time they were in the Sweet 16 was when Braxton Beverly was in 7th grade, I think around 2008 or 09.
