37 District/2006-2007

Silver Grove's backcourt could be the best in the district. They need to improve on the boards and defensively to duke it out with the big boys. They will be tested early as they open at home vs. Brossart, which is the Mustangs first trip to the Grove in years.

Lots of talk on here about whether the district's best backcourt is SG or Scott. While Corey Pelle is an outstanding guard, and one of the best overall players in the district, and Sharp & Quigley are a fine backcourt duo; is everyone forgetting Brossart's got a pretty good backcourt tandem in Jimmy Uebel and Josh Kidney?? Between them they've got size, speed, passing, scoring and rebounding!! Throw in depth with Lloyd, Kramer, Rebholtz, Niemeyer; and its tough to rate any backcourt in the district above them!!

I agree with you that Uebel & Kidney are a pretty good duo, and think Uebel especially is one of the best guards in the district and possibly the region, but I don't think Kidney or the players off the bench for Brossart are at the same level as Pelle, Quigley, or Sharp.

IMO Pelle and Uebel are the best two guards in the district, and Josh is certainly worthy of mention with the other two. Who's Corey's running mate in the backcourt for SG this year?

Don't know who Pelle's running mate is this year. Maybe someone else might be able to provide this information.

The head to head match-ups this season between these guards will definitely decide who is the best. Looking forward to the games.

Corey's running mates will be his cousin Steven Pelle and Teddy Wiseman. Teddy had a 34 pt game last season and had over 40 in a summer game vs. Augusta. Steven has grown 3 inches and improved much over the summer. Look for him to get around 15 ppg and Wiseman could be close to 20 a game. I would not be surprised if Corey Pelle is in the top 5 in the state in scoring. Their guards are solid, but they need help inside. I wouldn't be surprised to see their coach start 5 guards and score a bunch of points. If they can defend and rebound, they will surprise people.

In order for Corey to be in the top 5 he will have to average at least 25 pts a game. That is possible but I think it's a little optimistic to believe that the three of them will average 60 pts a game. I know SG plays a weak schedule but come on now.

No way they all average around that. If they do that they will win alot of games.

It may seem far-fetched, but last year they averaged 69 pts a game, with playing Brossart (who many consider the best defensive team in the state) 3 times. They had 2 players avg 20 a game and 2 players avg 10 a game, so as crazy as it may seem, it could be possible.

I never said the team couldnt I said the three players mentioned couldnt average 60pts a game the way the post said. And I have never heard anybody say that Brossart is the best defensive team in the state. Really?

:thumb: Agreed.

I'll say there one of the best defensive teams in the state, if the Code boys know anything its defense.

The post didnt say " one of " it said THE BEST.

You made it sound like they weren't even one of the best, they might not always be the best, but i gurantee when you talk about teams that might be the best defensively Brossart and the Code boys will be included in that converstaion.
