March 11, 20179 yr I wonder how many people consider themselves lesbian transgender women. Are there even a hundred people in the nation who would label themselves this way? I think this happens a lot in today's easy access hype it up media. Something happens to a couple people somewhere and it's an odd story so it generates a headline and clicks. Now it suddenly becomes a trend or a problem of some sort. People get all upset about it. An oddity becomes a threat of some sort and people are making it into a much bigger issue than it ever should have been in the first place. People used to make jokes about the things written in the National Enquirer and similar publications. Now they read similar stories on the internet and consider it a crisis. Who would have ever believed that the National Enquirer could generate a whole fake news industry that many people believe and take serious? I am not saying this story is fake but the consternation and hype of it are a similar dynamic. Unfortunately instead of it being a joke or something to be looked at as an oddity and dismissed becomes a crisis.
March 11, 20179 yr The confusion lies in that there are three different aspects all at play. There is A. genetic sex, B. gender identity, and C. sexual orientation. The majority of the population have A=B and are attracted to the opposite gender/sex for C. However, any of the three components can be different for a given person. So, it is entirely possible that A does not equal B for a person i.e. they are transgender. Yet they could still just as likely be attracted to either gender with respect to C. If you try and look at the three things as separate aspects of a person that aren't related to each other rather than a package deal it makes it much easier to understand.
