Clay's Freshman team is pretty good. As Middle School players they went 24-0, killing people. I expect them to give rock all they can handle.

Its just a matter if Clay Lets their Freshman that play varsity ball to play against rockastle, right now several Clay freshman are doing time in Varsity play.

Rock should win this game.

Secondly, how does Clay expect to compete with premier programs over the state with 9th graders each year. I know that they started a lot of 9th graders last season. I guess I'm just asking when is it going to stop that freshmen must be used? Because normally top programs rarely utilize more than one-two 9th graders full tme for varsity and I'm just asking because I feel Clay County has almost turned that corner after a good showing in the playoffs last season and impressive wins this season. In a couple of years I expect that they will play tougher competiiton and do the same.

Five short years ago Clay dressed 25 players in an 0-10 season. This year they are 5-0 and I think the roster has 51. Over the past five years there has been a steady growth in the program and the county-wide enthusiasm has grown right with it. Senior numbers are going up each year and the younger classes are full of young men chomping at the bits to be varsity players. Kudos to coach Stepp and his staff for steadily building a football program that Clay County deserves. "When will it stop?" that fresman will be used; At this pace, I'd say SOON.

People forget that Clays freshman this year went undefeated in both Seventh and eigth grade 24 - 0 right now Clay has 2 or 3 freshaman playing varsity only ball. If this Bunch of Freshman stick together and don't start hanging their heads because of Varsity Playing time on Friday Night you will see a very powerful Clay County team in a couple years.

 

I just don't understand Kids today when I played years ago freshamn didn't even get to dress why can't Parents and Players understand that a 14 year old freshamn can't compete with 18 year old seniors.

 

I hear Parents Complaining all the time Because their 150 Lbs. Freshamn didn't get in the game until the fourth Quarter. Having been involved in Football all my Life I wouldn't ever want my 14 years old son to compete with the much older varsity players unless he was physically mature which is very rare. Let the Freshamn Play Freshman and JV Ball A winning program can be built around a solid JV program.

 

But what'a I know.....

 

Your program is in a horrible state when you have to Play Freshman.

Remember Folks this aint Basketball where you get into trouble for bumping into other palyers, you get rewarded for knocking them into the cheap seats.
