Holy Cross 34 Beechwood 33 OT (35th District)

Featured Replies

The guy takes a school to back to back Regional tournaments for the first time since 93-94 and still gets hammered...

He is doing a good job but to be fair Holmes is at a historical bottom point right now. It makes it a little easier. There were plenty of times between 94 and now where HC had a top 5 team in the region and couldn't make it out of districts.

To also be fair CCH wasn't always in their district. To be even more fair when Coach Listerman was at CCH they had some not so great years. To add to that Beechwoood is a much better program. Round and round it goes.

Am I the only one that sees the connection with Listerman?

Also I must of forgot when was CCH and HC not in the same district. I remember Holmes being seperate when was CCH? I know they were in the same district in 95 because the best team in the region HC was beat for the first time in many games by CCH in first round of districts.

You're right. Holmes wasn't always in district. Either way it's not like HC gets there back to back all that often.

Not that big of an accomplishment considering you only have to win one game to get there.

If it is not that big of an accomplishment, why has it not been done at HC in over 20 years?

Exactly. And that was the Harney and Clark teams as sophomores and juniors. It's not all that easy for HC to make the region. They've proven that since 94.

The "only have to win one game" comment, also cracks me up. I believe this is the case for about 90% of the schools.

If HC were able to put together a couple of wins this week, I still think there would be a poster that finds fault with the coach.

In a four school district, you have a 50% chance at going to regionals before the season even starts. In the past, Holmes has usually had a better team than the past two years, so HC would wind up playing either the number one or number two seed, ( who were most of the time since mid nineties much better teams) first in the district's. As in past two years, not much difference in 2,3,4, seeds come district time.

So 50% chance still that your going to regionals. And we barely made it this year in case you didn't see the Beechwood game.

The season record reflects way more on a coach than winning one district game. No one can argue that.

I think some people need a breathalyzer before posting on here

With the run CCH and Holmes had every other team in the region would of had long regional droughts as well.

Unless B-Ball-fan is wrong it seems like they made the regional 18 times since 1954 before these last 2 appearances. Its a fairly big accomplishment. Does Beechwood have a 50% chance to make region too? I'd love

to hear that they think that.

Exactly what I was thinking
