Congratulations to Coach Mike Key and his Lloyd Juggernauts who won their 20th game of the season at home, defeating conference opponent Trimble County 78-34 on Senior Night, and have quietly put together a nice year.

 

They play St. Henry in the opening round of the 34th District Tournament next week - another winnable game, which would send them into the 9th Region Tournament.

 

This is the first winning season in Coach Mike Key's ten year tenure, although they posted a 16-16 mark in 2011-12 when they advanced to the semi-finals of the 9th Region Tournament.

 

Their last winning season came back in 1999-2000 when they went 15-11 under Coach Bryant Gillis.

Proud of my Alma mater. Keeping it real in E-town. I hope to see them in the region in a couple weeks.

When was the last time Lloyd won 20 games in a season? Great for these guys to get to the first winning season in a long time at Lloyd.

I think in 98-99 they finished 22-7?

Lloyd is a good, senior-laden team which gets excellent production from juniors Voet and Neal. 9th region beware.

 

Townsend, a senior, provides depth and leadership in the backcourt now that he's getting consistent minutes, and he and Cipollone make up one of the better guard combos in the 9th.

 

If they can knock off Dixie, who only beat them by two previously, they have the talent to make a good run at BB&T.

Always love to see a 9th Region tourney loaded with good teams, and especially high achieving dark horses like Lloyd who've got what it takes to send a so called favorite packing. Perhaps they're not likely to, but it's certainly not impossible either.

Lloyd can beat Dixie. If Key has scouted them Dixie has been exposed the last 4 games. Don't let Cam shoot and sag in the lane on Bradfield.
