Newport (13-15)–Burries 10 3 27, Miller 6 4 17, Na. Williams 5 0 10, Ne. Williams 1 0 2, Harding 4 1 9, Harmon 2 1 5. Totals: 28 9 70.

 

Halftime: HC 29-25. 3-pointers: HC 8 (Schrand 3, Volpenhein 3, Zimmerman, Houston); N 5 (Burries 4, Miller).

This is the 2nd time this season that these two teams had to decide their battle in overtime with the first being in the quarter-finals of the 9th Region All 'A" where Newport came away with the 'W' in that one 76-71.

 

After beginning their season at 2-13, Holy Cross has won 4 straight, and 7 or their last 10.

 

Looks like they're really starting to gel and figure things out, and learning how to finish games. Not a bad time of the season for them to be hitting their stride.

 

They've become my Cinderella team that I'll be pulling for to stun the critics and go deep into tourney time.

Just when you think HC has something figured out, they look just like they did in the past. Congratulations on the win boys, keep grinding.

Burries from Newport is a nice player.

Burries is a fun kid to watch. He almost, by himself, brought Newport back from 8 down in overtime to make it interesting. I believe he hit 3 of his 4 threes in the last 2 min of OT. I had flashbacks from the ending of the All "A" game against Newport a month ago and the mismanaging of the clock at the end.

 

Any idea why the McGuire kid didn't play for Newport last night? hurt ?

Burries three point shooting toward the end was neat to watch, just wish it hadnt been against us. Lol
